I'm using the Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 app to try to connect to a Windows 10 computer via RD Gateway. If I try to initiate the connection from a Windows 10 computer with exactly the same settings, it works fine. It will not connect via a brand new MacBook Pro, it fails with the following error. Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to. Try reconnecting to the Windows-based computer, or contact our administrator. Is it possible that the remote server allows connects from only Windows clients? Over the summer we build a Remote Desktop Gateway Cluster to provide remote access to workstations for some of our clients. Initial testing worked great for Mac OS, Windows and Linux users. For Mac OS we had clients download the official Microsoft RDP App from the App Store. When I opened a RDP connection from my Mac to the Windows Server I would ge the following error: 'Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to' Since I was able to connect from a Windows Machine I was under the assumption that the RDP problem layed with my Mac.

You should have a word with your network administrator and ask them the question. FWIW I think there's a certificate or a protocol setting that needs to be configured somewhere that will allow your Mac to 'pass-through'. This could be something built-in on a PC or pre-configured when your IT department roll out the setting to their PC clients. Be patient and persistent and don't let them fob you off simply because you're on a Mac and not a PC. They should be supporting you properly irrespective of platform. It's their job after all
